The House by the Synagogue is the home of the Medias Jewish Community’s Archive and Library and exhibitions regarding both the town’s history and also the life of the local community and its diversity. The Medias Synagogue, built in 1896, was the starting point of all the activities made by our team and it is one of the main tourist objectives of Medias. Besides the House by the Synagogue’s projects, a lot of other cultural events take place such as movie nights, theater plays, concerts and workshops with students.

Răzvan Anton
Răzvan AntonArtist
is an artist and lector at the Cluj University of Art and Design and collaborator with École européenne supérieure de l’image (Poitiers –FR) and Tășuleasa Social (RO). He is the resident artist at the House by the Synagogue.
Gabriela Cotaru
Gabriela CotaruProject Manager
Gabriela Cotaru is by proffesion a technical draughtswoman and project manager. Between 2015-2017, Gabriela implemented the „Solidarity for economic development in the Hârtibaciu Valley (SOLID.E.D.)” project, cofinanced by Swiss-Romanian Cooperation Programme. She is also a member of the board of directos of the MONUMENTUM association for protection of monuments and a collaborator of the german organization KOMED e. V. She speaks German, Romanian and English.
Joachim Cotaru
Joachim CotaruHistorian
Joachim Cotaru is by -proffesion a historian, trainer (SO M10, COR 241205/ 241207) and project manager (COR 242101). He speaks German, Romanian, French (basic) and Swedish (basic). He is the president of the Hosman Durabil Association, which was involved and supported the Synagogue’s activities since 2014.
Julie Dawson
Julie DawsonResearcher
Julie Dawson is the initiator of the House by the Synagogue’s projects, project director, researcher and archivist. Also she is the primary researcher for the Leo Baeck Institute’s long-term JBAT project.
Alexandra Toma
Alexandra TomaProject Manager
Alexandra Toma has been involved with activities at the Medias Synagogue since 2014, first as a volunteer, then as the project manager assistant and currently as project manager for activities and events in the space.

Arhiva evreiască
din Mediaș

Materialul din această colecție poate fi de interes pentru cei care cercetează viața, identitatea și cultura evreiască în sudul Transilvaniei înainte și în timpul celui de-al Doilea Război Mondial și viața evreiască sub guvernul comunist român. Colecția este aranjată pe serii și cronologic în cadrul fiecărei serii.

Acest proiect s-a derulat în perioada 2014-2015, a fost administrat prin Fundația Mihai Eminescu și finanțat de o generoasă fundație din afara țării.
